Why I Scrapbook
I started scrapbooking in 2000 after a friend invited me to a Creative Memories party. I went, we played with photos, white pages, and triangles, and that was 'all she wrote'. I was hooked. I had two little girls and I wanted to make a scrapbook for them. Why? I guess because I didn't have any baby pictures of myself, I didn't feel like I had a history or a story of how I came to be. Not having baby pictures really bothered me. I felt like I'd just been dropped on the planet with no record of my past. I wanted my girls to have a story. Photos are only part of the story. Documenting the events and/or circumstances surrounding the photos completes the story. I document my memories so that my girls will not have to guess at what happened at that time in their life. They can go back and read my words, look at the photos, and relive that event. They won't have to remember the names of the people in the photos because I've written them down. By reading my journaling, they will know who I am, what I felt, and how I lived. They will have a history, a story of how they came to be. That is why I scrapbook.
